CEO

Ambition School Leadership and the Institute for Teaching are looking for a new, permanent Chief Executive, to take our newly merged organisation forward into the future.

We need a clear strategic thinker who can implement flawlessly: this role requires the ability to flex focus and a relentless emphasis on financial sustainability.

Our new organisation, launching in Spring 2019, will have a single focus: to help teachers and school leaders to keep getting better. We think that this is the best way to make sure that every pupil, regardless of their background, gets a great education.

We pride ourselves on the outstanding quality of our people and our programmes, all of which are informed by the latest research, our experience and the work of great teachers and leaders.

At this exciting time, the CEO will lead a talented team of experts across programme delivery and product development. You will also be committed to finding opportunities to exploit technology and take accountability for the commercial development and launch of our new organisation.

We’re looking for someone with a passion for education. Prior experience in the sector is not essential, although energy and enthusiasm to build knowledge quickly is. You must be able to inspire, motivate and develop the charity in its mission to make a sustainable difference to school leadership.

We are looking for a proven leader, strategic in their approach, who knows how to deliver change within a fast-moving and complex operational environment. You will lead relationships with funders, senior educational leaders and government departments, particularly the Department for Education. To sustain the confidence of key stakeholders, you will need intellectual agility, superb diplomatic skills and be a natural collaborator.

There’s no doubt that the successful candidate will need considerable resilience to navigate a tough market, a recent restructure, and a reshaped strategy. But the opportunity is huge. If you have the skills needed to succeed in this demanding job, and the strong desire to lead a nationally recognised charity that makes a sustainable difference to education, we look forward to hearing from you.
